Heidelberg
A visit to Heidelberg Castle is a must for every guest in the region. Or would you prefer to go hiking on the Philosopher’s Path like Mark Twain once did? The Philosopher’s Path offers a classic postcard view of the old town, the river, the Old Bridge, the castle and the Königstuhl, which towers above the town.

Schwetzingen
Travel back in time at Schwetzingen Palace, the heart of a unique ensemble consisting of the palace, palace gardens and historic palace square. In the 18th century, a small medieval moated castle was transformed into the picturesque summer residence of the Electors of the Palatinate. Ladenburg
Ladenburg, with its 1900 years of urban culture, is one of the oldest German towns on the right bank of the Rhine and was one of the most important Roman metropolises in southwest Germany.

Hiking

The surroundings of Neckargemünd with the foothills of the Odenwald invite you to go on short or long hikes at any time of year. There is really something for everyone here, Whether hiking leisurely along the Neckar or sporty over the mountains of the Odenwald. You can start your hike directly from the campsite, and destinations further away can be reached easily by public transport.

Neckarsteig:
The “Neckarsteig”, a hiking trail over 128 km long and divided into 9 stages from Heidelberg to Bad Wimpfen, also runs through Neckargemünd. The Neckarsteig was named the most beautiful hiking trail in Germany by “Wandermagazin” in 2018 and was ranked 2nd among the most popular long-distance hiking trails by the hiking magazine “Trekking Magazine” in 2019. From Neckargemünd, you can hike the first stage “backwards” to Heidelberg and enjoy the rest of the day in the famous old town. The second stage leads from Neckargemünd to Neckarsteinach via Dilsberg Castle. The other stages can be easily reached from Neckargemünd by S-Bahn trains.

Activities on the Neckar river

Our campsite is located directly on the Neckar. So why not spend some time right on the river?

Sports enthusiasts can hire a canoe directly from the campsite and explore the landscape from the river’s perspective.

Both individual tours and group tours are possible.

The romantic Neckar valley can also be explored comfortably by excursion boat. The ships of the “Weiße Flotte” (white fleet) stop in Neckargemünd and invite you to take a trip to Heidelberg or Neckarsteinach.
